Friday Randoms

- It's March 1st and I haven't blogged since January 17th.  My bad. How is it March already?

- It's still freaking snowing and this girl is over it.  Winter blues are kicking in.

- Just got done looking at my honeymoon pics (yes my honeymoon was a year and a half ago).  Can I have another please or at least be tan?

- Friday equals date night at the Calhoon household.  J Gilbies here.we.come.

- Took a new Fusion class this morning called MILF.  While I am not a mama (unless a dog mama counts) this class will definitely get you in MILF shape. #kickassclass #iheartfusionfitness

- The new Hyvee by my house is AMAZEBALLS.  They literally have everything.  Em and I decided that it's a mix between Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and Costco.  They even have a bar inside. Legit I tell you.

- I took advantage of the snowdays and cleaned out my closets.  I also counted my jean stash and realized that I have 39 pairs.  39 pairs of jeans is ridiculous.  And please tell me that flare jeans will never come back in style.  But after all that hard work I've decided it's time for a new wardrobe.

- I am in desperate need of recipes.  I used to love cooking but this whole eating clean thing is for the birds.  What's for dinner you ask...chicken or salmon or no wait almonds.  My poor hubby.

- Next weekend we are heading to Hermann, MO for our good friend Rachel's Bach party.  Bring on the vino and the fun. This is my first trip and I could not be more excited.

- Kirk traveled to Chicago this week for work and almost got snowed in.  Again.  Thankfully he got home that morning around 2 am and it did not turn out like the last time he got stuck in Chicago.  A rental car, random driver/stranger, and a road trip from Chicago to KC through the night.

k-s-u family

Well I had originally started blogging about our little fiesta on the flight home and now 2 weeks later I'm finally around to finishing it up.  Or should I say I've finally recovered from this little fiesta that we attended. Sista has been taking a lot of siestas since we've been home. #mamasgettinoldpeople

Seriously thinking about this trip just gives me gooseys.  So many fun deetz that I just don't want to forget about.  I freaking love Bowl Game trips and we are only on our second one.  A week full of purple and KSU fans, well you just can't beat it.

First off KSU fans kick ass.  During the pep rally I looked over at Cal at one point and she was literally tearing up. The energy in that place was amazing! From the Eric Stonestreet's pep talk to Ty Zimmerman commenting about the their uniforms (hilar)...the only thing that could have made it any better is if we could have obviously finished. Oh and Collin Klein...I freaking adore him.  And let's not forget that the day we were leaving we met the Judge Arthur Brown.  He was such a sweetie and the dude gives the best hugs.  He was standing outside Cal and Tony's hotel waiting on his family.  Of course, we asked for our picture.

So here is the rundown of how we spent our 5 days in Arizona and I apologize if you have already seen all of these pics on FB, Instagram, or Twitter.  I'm officially back to just taking pics of my dog now. Get excited.

Packing for a bowl game equals simple. No need for any other color but purple.

Kirk and I flew out NYE morning and thankfully we missed the big snow storm.  The Line's flew out later that day and their story was a tad more stressful but were able to beat the weather and arrive safe and sound, as well!

Sippin' on a mimosa during our layover in Denver.  There was purple all over that airport.

Scottsdale we have arrived.

We grabbed some drinks, ate some dinner, waited for the Lines' to arrive, and brought in the NY via Scottsdale style.  It was little tricky as to what was the hot spot. People recomended the most random spots.  For instance, Shotgun Betty's.  Not really our style so we were on to the next 'club'.

I can't even remember what the club was called but it was straight up Jersey Shore Karma style.  Seriously.  Best people watching I have done in a long time.  That place was literally bumping and what else can you do in a situation like that other than to drink through it!

NYD we were up and at em.  The first thing that Kirk said to me that morning was 'I'm pretty sure we spent NYE at the Jersey Shore not Arizona."  Haha so true and we both felt like we took shots with pre-preg/crazy Snooks all night long.

Here's what we ate for breakfast.  The Hangover Sandwich...yes please.

Breakfast nachos...sure why not.

And then the rest of the days were spent watching FB, eating, and drinking.

Duck fans loved us.

Rusty Spur...best bar ever.

Actually I take that back.
Gilligans hands down best bar ever.
Little people with big beers.
The bar was made for little people and they were everywhere.
 #modernmidgets

Gold Fish races went down here.
I am pretty sure my fishy won and I probably should not share what my little fish was named :)

Chewy was not a fan of our KSU cheer.

Eric Stonestreet at the Pep Rally.
Hilarious.
I think I tweeted him 15 times that day to meet us out.

Love me some Collin Klein

Random cab ride home.
Tina Tuner and her pimp, maybe?

Back to Gillys we go.

The dangerous wheel...

HBD Sara!
If you order a BDAY shot from there they make you take it out of a plunger.
Loved it.

Game Day

How awesome is this pic...

Oh such an amazing trip.
I was so sad that we lost but it was such a great season and still so so so proud to be a Wildcat.

And I saved the best pic for last....Arthur Brown in the house :)

Twenty.Twelve Recap

WOW, another year in the books.
I can't believe how fast time goes and it certainly does not seem to be slowing down.
I know I know I say it all the time.

Can't complain about Twenty-Twelve as it was pretty fab.
In some ways I felt like it slowed down (planning a wedding last year or should I say my mom) and then in other ways 2012 was crazy busy.
All in good ways.

Instead of blogging about New Year’s resolutions that I never keep or make for that matter, I thought I
would do a little recap of twenty-twelve.

A trip to Dallas, TX to cheer on our Wildcats at the Cotton Bowl.
Outcome not the greatest but a weekend surrounded by KSU love made the DRIVE totally worth it.

Finally found a Mexican restaurant in KC that both Kirk and I LOVE.
This is huge people.
I could eat Mexican every day and now I don't have to drag my husband kicking and screaming.
Maybe it's the margs?

Made a life style change and joined Fusion Fitness.
I have found a new love for working out because of it.
And more importantly my mind and body loves me for it, too.

Another trip with great friends to the Ozarks.
So.Much.Fun.

The Bathroom got remodeled and I could not be any happier with the “after”.

Hosted another crazy 4th of July party this year.
#flipandslide #bruisesforweeks

Kirk and I celebrated our first wedding Anniversary.
I look forward to many many more.
We celebrated in San Diego and fell in love with that city.

A trip to Denver was made to visit my sister and her BF.
So happy that she is happy.

I have half way jumped on the eating clean bandwagon.
I totally get it but if it wasn't so damn expensive then I would be all aboard.
And what to cook what to cook?
#healthycookingisboring

Many more wine nights added to the books.
Have I ever mentioned that I love my friends?

Blogged a little less than last year.
Go fig.

God gained two angels near and dear to our hearts this year.

Greta the Jetta’s transmission decided to quit working so Kirk and I now own our first vehicle together.
Haven’t named her yet but she’s a pretty Black Explorer.
I like to refer to her as my Black Beaut.

I saw a #1 in the FREAKIN NATION next to KSU.
It was a first and was very short lived but it was so damn exciting!

KSU football was so fun to watch this season and they're not done yet.
See you in AZ Bill, Collin, and the rest of the boys.
Hoping we can make bowl games a yearly tradition?

Kirk started a new job this fall.
One that he loves.
Makes me so happy.

I think we’ve found the one.
A church that we enjoy and are going to love.
We’ve only been a few times but it just feels so right.
And must I admit that trying to find a church in a big city is very intimidating.
VERY.

A fabulous trip to Austin with Linz to visit our dear friend Lace.

Reunited with some of my best friends at our 10 year High School Reunion.
Damn we're gettin' old.
#gbhslove

A great shopping/drinking/eating trip to Chicago with my love.

Finally feel comfortable in my job.
A merger and 2 years later but I’ll take it.

Looking forward to another great year.
Can't wait to see what Twenty.Thirteen has in store for the Calhoons'.
Cheers to 2013.

Chi Town Love

A weekend in Chicago was just what we needed.  Well actually Kirk got a whole week and I was jealous and wanted to come too.  He left last Sunday for a week of sales training and I flew in first thing Friday morning.  He didn't get done with training until 4 so I took advantage of Michigan Ave or should I say Michigan Ave took advantage of me.  Seriously the shopping their is stupidly crazy amazing.  I was in heaven and forgot how much I loved this city.

Michigan Avenue here I come.

Some of the pics I snapped on my walk to Michigan Ave.

This made me smile.

We spent Friday evening in Lincoln Park.  Love love love that area.  Stopped in at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba to try and get drinks and tapas but the wait was a hour to two.  Atmosphere was adorable and it smelt delish but this girl was thirsty and hungry.  Next stop was at the Taco Joint.  Great spot for amazing food, margs, oh and the guac was out of the world amazing.  I was too hungry and forgot to take pics.  Next we hit up J. Parker or so we thought.  Still not sure what bar we were at but we had some amazing wine and some kind of gnocchi app.  Last but not least we went to the ZOO lights in Lincoln Park.  It was highly recommended and I am so glad we went.  It was FREE and we were able to sip on spiced wine to keep us warm.  It totally got me in the Christmas spirit.

Saturday morning we woke up and decided to hit up Orange for Brunch.  We walked our happy (OMG SORE feet) little booties there to only find out that it moved to a different location.  We then cabbed it to the new location.  Again, highly recommended and did not disappoint at all.  It was simply amazing and I forgot to take pics because I was too concerned about scarfing my food.  Also, had to start the day with mimosas....the perfect start.

Next we hit up Christkindl market in Daily Plaza.  Here they have little huts that have all things German and random Christmas stuff.  It was super packed but we sipped on spiced wine out of a cute little das boot that you actually got to keep.

Of course we had to stop and check out da Bean.

And drinks at the John Hancock.  Holy amazing view.

More site seeing.  Chicago during Christmas time is fab.

Last stop was drinks and the most amazing pretzel I have ever eaten in my life at Elephant and Castle.  Seriously, that pretzel was the best thing in the world and I again forgot to snap a pic.

It was a quick little trip but oh so fun.  After being gone for almost a week someone was anxious to get home to this girl.

She wanted to go too.
